I Chose To Do It My Way

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve

Joshua 24:15

Have you ever asked God about something and then when He answered you, you didn’t like the answer He gave and decided to do what you wanted to do?

I’ve done this several times.  I would ask God a question, immediately He would give me the answer that I didn’t want to accept and my choice would be to go my own route.

I would do this with just about everything. Decisions about my finances; decisions about my relationships; even decisions about my overall health.

In my disobedience, I felt like I was satisfying an immediate need.

It took me, what seems like forever to finally come to the realization that when we choose to do something our way instead of God’s way – while things may seem to be on the up and up right away, somewhere down the road a storm is brewing!

What I mean by this is, we waste an awful amount of time doing things our way, when we could have saved ourselves a huge amount of time if we would have did what God wanted us to do from the very beginning.

If Sarah and Abraham would have truly waited on God for their son, they wouldn’t have spent those additional years in between having Ishmael with Sarah’s maid; not hearing from God for years and years before finally arriving at the promise God originally had given them from the start. (Genesis 17)

Whatever area you desire change in your life – how about trying God’s way instead of your own? If you’ve tried ever other way and those ways didn’t work out quite as you thought they would – why not try His way?

After all, what do you have to lose?

Trust God, serve God.

Blessings,

Tina
